Tata Chemicals' technician honoured with prime minister's Shram Shri award

Mithapur: Tata Chemicals’ technician, Rajesh Samani was recently honoured with the prime minister’s Shram Shri award at a function held in the national capital, New Delhi. Mr Samani, who has been with Tata Chemicals for the last 34 years, received the award from the Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in the presence of Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Union Minister of State (I/C) for Labour & Employment. He received the award in recognition of his consistent performance and dedication to safety, health and environment, punctuality and teamwork.

BB Kathpalia, VP, manufacturing, Mithapur, Tata Chemicals, Mithapur, said, “Rajesh Samani was nominated for the award for his contribution to productivity, quality, conservation of resources, waste utilisation and cost reduction. His ownership of challenges with proven innovative abilities and presence of mind leading to solutions and cost-savings resulted in his being nominated for the Shram award. We are glad that he is among the 338 workers across India who have been honoured with the Shram award and congratulate him for this honour. We are sure that his success will inspire other workers to hone their skills and bring out their best.”

The Shram Vir award carries a cash prize of Rs60,000 and a citation. On the occasion, the winners were congratulated by the Union Minister of State (I/C) for Labour & Employment for not only doing their work diligently, but also inspiring their companions to give their best. The minister further stated that the economic development of the country depends on the work which the workers perform in various sectors which is an effective step to strengthen the country and create a strong nation.

M Sathiyavathy, Secretary, Labour & Employment; Heera Lal Samariya, Additional Secretary, and Devender Singh, Economic Adviser, were also present on the occasion.
